Intermark Associates was a public relations firm that specialized in association management. Among its business and commmunity clients were:

  • Independent Business Association of Wisconsin
  • Council of Independent Managers
  • Wauwatosa Chamber of Commerce
  • Wauwatosa Citizens’ Environmental & Ecological Committee
  • North Avenue Business Association

The primary marketing objectives for most associations focuses on increasing membership and fund raising. Income supports the operation of the organization and, in many cases, supports a cause that is central to members’ participation. There were 1.1 million charities and foundations in the U.S. in 2011, according to the IRS.

Successful strategic marketing for an association requires a thorough understanding of member needs and developing value through its programs and member benefits. A succesful strategy develops a meaningful and engaging relationship that converts individuals into loyal, long-term members.

Engaged members are active participants and promoters of the association goals.
